EV Charger Placement in Eilat, Israel
Anchor 1
Objectives
Evaluate Eilat’s current transportation emissions and determine optimal EV charger placement to encourage further EV usage in the city.
Outcomes and Contributions
The city of Eilat, Israel is interested in reducing its transportation emissions as the city strives to meet the EU’s Smart Cities mission by 2030. To accomplish this, I worked with my team to provide recommendations to Eilat’s municipality about where EV chargers should be placed to encourage further EV use and reduce its transportation emissions. I was responsible for researching EV charging standards in Israel. Then, I compiled a list of all public EV chargers currently installed in Eilat, including their locations, how many chargers are available at each location, and the power capacity of each charger. I also found other viable locations for installing public chargers. My team used this information to develop an rollout plan that strategically placed chargers in high traffic areas first, gradually expanding throughout Eilat.
Technical Details
Due to the conflict ongoing at the time of this project, we were unable to travel to Eilat to collect data in person. Therefore, we relied on datasets available online to conduct the research. The final report available below details the strategies used for EV charger placement, as well as calculations of transportation emissions in Eilat.
